Product Options

There are two leather finish options. If you do not specify which you require the saddle will be shipped in the standard leather, as shown in the pictures, that you can enlarge to get a good view.

The Grippy leather is an option that that needs to be stated in the "comments" section as you are checking out through the shopping cart. Three pictures of the "Grippy" leather are now available to view in the JMX gallery.

Here is what Jeffries say about their JMX Saddle.

Designed for the Horse: The wide panels and gullet channel give it a lot of flexibility for use on a variety of horses with different conformation. Made with wool-flocked panels, the JMX can be custom fit for the best weight distribution on the horse's back and fine-tuned for the rider's own balance preference. Using its deep panel gusset it can correct the seat balance on uphill and downhill horses. The pommel allows clearance even for horses with Thoroughbreds with high withered and Warmbloods with wide wither muscles.

Balanced for Position and Security: The JMX uses the balance point of the seat to give the rider a correct position over the stirrups for security in two point or over a fence and corrects a “swinging leg.” This balance also reduces fatigue from long periods in two-point. While the slightly longer seat still allows the rider to shift back in the seat as needed on cross-country, the slightly more forward seat center with lower cantle makes the JMX an excellent show-jumping choice, too.

Leg Support Options: Provided with two adjustable sets of firm blocks under a soft balloon knee pad, a rider can opt for no block, a small block or a larger block. The calf support is a soft foam calf “nudge” rather than a firm block. It’s placement allows the rider the freedom to shift the leg back if needed for an extreme up-bank or when riding with longer stirrups for flat work.

Functional Design for Performance and Longevity: The JMX Flap has a single layer of leather for a close contact feel. The flap and knee pad are cut to mold with the leg and to stay flat against the horse’s side. Unlike billets that are stitched to the bottom of a flap on some mono-flaps which have a factory-dictated position, the JMX Free Billet design permits the correct placement and angling of the girth dictated by the horse’s conformation. Again, other mono-flap saddles use multiple layers of material in their flaps, usually a very thin, soft leather over a layer of foam and a third layer of leather all bonded with glue and reinforced with decorative stitching. While soft to the touch and detailed to catch the eye, these layers add unnecessary thickness between horse and rider. The result is less feel of the horse, shorter lifespan of the saddle and an increased need for periodic repair as the thin upper layer and the stitching wears out.

Durability: Offered in a choice of Sedgwick’s textured, “grippy” leather, the JMX is built to last for years and years under the tough conditions of everyday training and competition. Sedgwick is a top leather manufacturer supplying the top names in saddlery and bridle work. Only their best quality leather is used throughout the saddle. This top quality leather breaks in very quickly and does not need oiling. I suggest cleaning it with glycerine soap and treating it with a good quality leather conditioner such as Jeffries Natural Leathercare
